In this guide, we will show you a nifty workaround through which you can remove the region lock from your OnePlus device. The Chinese OEM has recently rolled out the twelfth iteration of its flagship which offers tons of intriguing features and a power-packed specs sheet. With that said, its ditching of OxygenOS in favor of ColorOS raised a few eyebrows and backlash from the masses.

However, it had all slowly dried out because OnePlus managed to provide some exceptional quality devices without having to shell out a majority of the bucks from your pockets [as opposed to the likes of Pixels and Samsungs]. Owing to this, its demand has skyrocketed across numerous regions, though not everyone can use the device to its full potential all thanks to the region lock on their OnePlus device. So what exactly is this lock and how could you remove it? Let’s find out.

What is Region Lock in OnePlus

Many users have exported their OnePlus device from China via third-party services like Giztop mainly because it isn’t available in their region or just due to the fact that it was cheaper in China in comparison with their home country. However, they have to face the repercussions of the same.

As soon as they inserted the SIM card of their region, it didn’t work and hence they were unable to make any phone calls, send messages, or use carrier data. This is because their device blocked the MMC of that SIM and will only accept the Chinese SIM card, which wasn’t a viable option for many users. Apart from that, the users were also greeted with the following error message:

You are using a region-customized phone. Its calling function will be restricted in your region. Please contact a retail store for support.

How to Check if your OnePlus is Region Locked?

Apart from the aforementioned error message, there exist a couple of additional methods through which you can check if your device has been affected by this restriction or not. Let’s make you aware of both these methods:
