In this guide, we will show you a couple of methods through which you can download the stock firmware for your Samsung device. When it comes to software updates, the South Korean conglomerate has recently upped the ante by providing a whopping 7 years of OS upgrades! Apart from that, it is usually among the fastest players in the market to release these updates. These are rolled out Over The Air and could directly be installed from the Settings menu itself.
So when you could easily install these updates from the device, why is there a need to take the help of any third-party app or website? Well, this is quite a geat question and the reason lies in the slew of benefits attached to the manual download of firmware. So first and foremost, we’ll be shedding some light on the benefits of manual Samsung firmware download after which we will list out two methods through which you could get this job done. Follow along.
Why Should I Manually Download Samsung Firmware
There are quite a few reasons why you might want to get hold of the firmware file the manual way instead of taking the automatic approach. Some of the noteworthy reasons include:
- If you haven’t yet received the OTA on your device but the update has been released, then you may manually download the ZIP via the instructions given in this guide and then flash it via Odin.
- Likewise, if you wish to obtain root, then you may download the firmware, extract it, get the AP file, patch it via Magisk, and flash it via Odin to gain administrative rights over your device.
- Moreover, if your device is currently in a soft brick or bootloop state, then you easily unbrick it by force rebooting your device to Download Mode and then flashing the manually downloaded firmware via Odin.
- Not to mention the fact that you wouldn’t be even able to install OTAs if the bootloader is unlocked. In that case, using Odin is your only way out.
Well, these are just some of the important use-case scenarios of manually downloading the Samsung firmware. Let’s now make you aware of a couple of methods to carry out this task. Follow along.
