In this guide, we will show you various methods to fix the scrolling issues when charging your Pixel device. Back with the sixth iteration of Pixel devices, the Silicon Valley giant decided to surprise everyone by ditching Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset with its own in-house Tensor [with a touch of Exynos] and things have gone downhill ever since. Be it overheating, battery drainage, or performance issues, these devices have been plagued with a plethora of such issues.
[And things aren’t going to change until the Pixel 10th series, when Google will stop using the Samsung Foundry]. If we talk about performance issues, then there have a truckload of complaints lined up across numerous platforms. While most of them have caught the attention of the tech giant and have been resolved, there has been one issue that is being ignored for reasons best known to them.
The issue that we are talking about is related to scrolling and swiping when the Pixel device is charging. As a result of this, users are unable to use their device for the entirety of the time their device is being charged. In this regard, the problem is majorly affecting the Pixel 6A series only] though there have been a handful of reports from the Pixel 8 Pro].
What makes the matter even more infuriating is the fact that the problem was first reported in October last year and even months later, it is yet to be acknowledged, let alone address it. With that said. we managed to find numerous nifty workaround that might help you resolve this bug. So without further ado, let’s check them out.
Fix Pixel Scrolling Issue when Charging
It is recommended that you try out each of the below-mentioned workarounds and then see which one spells out success. So with that in mind, let’s get started.
FIX 1: Use a Different Brick and Cable
You should consider using a different charging brick as well as the USB cable instead of the one from Google [make sure that you still use an official one, such as Samsung or OnePlus, and not any random third-party ones].
FIX 2: Remove from Case
Next up, make sure to remove your device from the case while your device is being charged. This will prevent your device from being overheated [something which Pixel devices are notoriously infamous for] and might help you fix the scrolling issues when charging your Pixel device.
FIX 3: Charge via Laptop
A bunch of users were able to rectify this issue by charging their devices via laptop and USB cable. While it’s not the most viable approach to getting the job done as the charging will take ages, still for them, this was the only way out when it comes using their device when it was being charged.
FIX 4: Reset Device
You might also face this issue If the data partition is corrupted. In such cases, your best bet is to reset it and let it repopulate a fresh instance of the same from scratch. Here’s how it could be done:
- Head over to Settings > System > Reset.
- Then tap Erase All Data [Factory Reset].
- Proceed with the steps to perform a reset.
- Once done, set it up and check the result.
FIX 5: Downgrade to Android 13
Most [or rather all] the issues came to light after the Android 14 update. So you could consider doing a downgrade to the Android 13 build, either via Android Flash Tool or via Fastboot Commands. However, do note that the process will wipe off all the data on your device and might nullify its warranty as well. So only proceed ahead if that’s well and good.
That’s it. These are the various methods that should help you fix the scrolling issues when charging your Pixel device. As far as the official stance on this matter is concerned, the developers have yet to acknowledge this issue, let alone give out any ETA for the rollout of a fix. As and when any of these two things happen, we will update this guide accordingly. In the meantime, the aforementioned workarounds are your best bet.
