In this guide, we will show you a nifty workaround using which you can disable the Xiaomi Security Scan while installing an APK. The OS from the Chinese OEM has always been a hot topic of discussion. On one hand, many users are fans of the plethora of customizations that it has to offer, whereas, for others, it is among the most bloated OS out there.
Well, irrespective of the fact as to which side of the fence you belong to, one cannot deny that it does have some highly infuriating UI/UX implementations that hardly make any sense whatsoever. Among them, the most enraging one is the sideloading of APKs. In all the other Android devices, when you are about to install an APK from an app [such as via Chrome], then you’ll simply be asked to enable Install from Unknown Sources for the first time and that’s just about it.
However, with Xiaomi, things are different, and for worse. Once you have enabled Unknown Sources, it will then start performing its own set of security checks, such as Virus scans, Counterfeit app checks, and Other risks. Now don’t get me wrong here, this is definitely a nifty addition and will help you protect your device from malicious third-party APKs.
However, I have never been a fan of this ideology of the OEM forcing a feature onto its users. In this case as well, it should have simply given us the option to skip that check. This is because I only download APKs from trusted sides like APK and are quite sure about the legitimacy of the file.
So there’s literally no need for me to keep on waiting for 7-8 seconds just for the OEM to carry out its check which I have never asked for in the first place. If you also echo a similar thought process, then this guide will make you aware of a nifty workaround through which you can disable the Xiaomi Security Scan while installing an APK. Follow along.
How to Disable Xiaomi Security Scan when Installing an APK
In order to get this job done, you’ll have to root your device. While rooting in itself does bring in a few issues. such as failing of Play Integrity Test, but you can easily pass the test by flashing a module. With that said, the choice is completely yours- if you prefer to remain in the stock rcosys5em and don’t wish to deal with the caveats of a rooted ecosystem, then unfortunately, you’ll have to deal with this security pop-up every time while installing an APK. On the other hand, if you usually keep your device rooted for trying out new mods or this warning prompt is way too much to deal with and you’re ready to give this tweak a try, then let’s get started.
- To begin with, root your device via Magisk, KernelSU, or APatch.
- If you are using Magisk, then enable Zygisk from its Settings menu.
- In the case of kernelSU and APatch, flash the ZygiskNext module.
- For APatch and KernelSU users, they have to flash the Zygisk Next module.
- Once done, download, install, and set up the LSPosed Framework on your device.
- After that, download and install the Pengeek [HyperOS] or Customiuizer [MIUI].
- Then launch LSPosed, go to the Modules tab, and enable the toggle next to the mod.
- Next up, restart your device. Once it boots up, launch the Pengeek/Customiuizer app.
- Then go to the Various section and enable the toggle next to Skip Security Scanning.
- Finally, restart your device once and then check out the result by installing an APK.
